Diane enjoys passing on her knowledge of hat making and has assisted “A” level students from local schools by one to one tutoring during half term holidays. The fee for this is £100.00 plus the cost of materials. This includes an initial discussion of the period in history in which the student is interested and agreeing the style of hat to be produced.  Arranging the purchase of all materials to be used and one hours attendance at The Hat Box for the initial blocking of the hat.  There then follows a full day to work on the construction of the hat and either a half or an additional full day to complete the project.

Two young ladies from Chipping Campden School have recently enjoyed work experience with a difference in that they each made a hat and a fascinator over a three day short course.  Girls if you are interested in a career in design or the fashion industry here is an alternative to work experience in a shop.  Just ring 01562 67875 for detaisl.

Diane has also conducted a demonstration and tutorial session at Malvern Girls College when a class of sixteen GCSE students watched the initial blocking of a hat with detailed instruction on the stages required to complete the hat.  Following break time the students each made their own fascinator. The cost of this was £100.00 for three hours plus the cost of the packs for the fascinators.

Local Women’s Institutes and Towns Women’s Guilds have also enjoyed hat blocking demonstrations followed by the opportunity to try on a selection of the hats designed and made by Diane.  The cost of a demonstration is £45.00 including travel.
